Thomas Brinkmann pred nastopom v Ljubljani
picks and thoughts by thomas;
lately i was listening to some Sparks stuff and i thought that they where ahead of lots of music coming out later ... up to : "this town ain't big enough for both of us" bohemian rapsody ?!!. ... but i have another favorite from Sparks : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsoA_SZkggU
the track was called computer girl ... these guys did brit electro pop when nobody was thinking about it. (nevertheless the performing attitude was very modern)
to be honest : i do not like "electropop"...
funny about the Sparks that they where americans living in England back than ...
Next ? ... Phill Niblocks Drone pieces !!! Like the movement of people ...

Love it !
Oren Ambarchi and me we are releasing a record on "black truffles" early next year which is kind of a Morton Feldman interpretation with one Niblock ear ...
and this from solomon islands :

AMAZING !!!
only 2300 people have seen it ... it is so sweet ... we can also talk about bushmen ... these complicate african rythmes ...
yeah ... bad for a radio show ... but i want you to see this regardless what are the limits of whatever
anyway ... another one i love is Rilke ... like the Orpheus. Euridike. Hermes. his sonetts ... poems ... the panther and so on ... it is music. (and his friends poems, Marina Zwetaevas ...i was using her lyrics on 2 suns / when horses die)
I also want to talk about Eduard Nikolajewitsch Artemjew ... lets say the "Stalker" soundtrack ...
following the nuts Stalker is throwing makes sense in the only way sense makes sense ...

deepest shit ... deeper than any deep house.
One record i allways forget in the list : this time it has to be differnd ... liaisons dangereuses / los ninos del parque ... with the 6/4 bassline and the 4/4 beat ...

(next to this track daniel millers warm leatherette (the normal) was really something in 1976 !)

And there is a version from a Nine Inch Nails track "Right where it belongs" (With Teeth) limited tour edition, where a strong filter like a phone filter is opening at the middle of the track and suddenly you hear a screaming audience and the track is turning into a kind of artificial live version ...
Best use of a Filter i ever heard
YES !!! this version is fantastic and one of my alltime favorites. excellent song . Raznors ballads are very nice machines. they drill into very simple wounds ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXSkfTedVb0
Neil Youngs sountrack for dead man ...this crying guitar theme ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fi-S9lrnLZ8
or ...
Brian Enos "another day on earth"
Back to the "here come the warm jets" album ... one of my early markers in pop ... kind of coming home after a long journey.

Techno is still to close to choose a track ... if ... maybe dan bells / accelerate "loosing control"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RZotWBdvmM
for me it was a turning point ... the "hal" track on "general ecectics" is related in a way (hello dave) ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHJkAYdT7qo
i was thinking about the hal 9000 computer / kubricks space odyssey / when i heard dan bells track ... the moment when the computer was on its way to crash (loosing control) ... this track was evoking those pictures but i think that it was not a sample of kubricks movie ?!
