Books:

Read lot’s of Philip K. Dick this and last year. It does add an extra layer to the reading that so much of the world he describes, technologies and ways of employing them echo so much our own world and time. The way in which he predicted the intrusion (and by now near omnipresence) of computers into our lives, the rise of AI, and of Mars as a new frontier of capitalism is uncanny. Including unsettling and deep philosophical/spiritual explorations about the nature of reality and what it means to be human. After several novels I start feeling a bit like some of his characters, or as he felt, a character dreamed by a mind in the greater poly-novel of existence.

Films/Videos:

Beyond the infinite two minutes It’s rare that a movie will blow my mind so much. This is a hilarious, mind boggling, intelligent as fuck, economic, unpretentious, sci-fi without special effects, flawless single shot movie. Good idea, great script, incredible film. As Eric Kinny said: “Note to past self: go watch this movie!”

I saw this movie twice this year having already seen it once last year, I’m still not bored of it. This amazing woodcut feature film is another proof that you don’t need much more than good use of the old noodle to make excellent cinema. Eric has made 200 woodcut “slides” that he (or another “projectionist”) makes pass through a wooden frame, synced to the audio track which consists of the voices of the characters (Siet Rae, Mcloud Zicmuse amongst many others) and music by Raphael Desmarets. I have to mention one because it moved me very deeply. Also not really a concert, but the wildest puppet theater performance.
